Rising Fire

The burning sun rises on the horizon, casting a blinding glare over the bleak landscape. Cliff edges fade into the horizon, casting their heavy shadows over the sand. Small shapes skitter through the shadows, disappearing before the revealing light fully dawns. As the sun rises, the shadows haltingly recede and the fading cracks and trails are made visible, leading onward. The searing heat burns, sending smoke twisting across the sky. The fire is rising.
